Our Background

Moeyungyi Wetland Wildlife Sanctuary Background Currently Myanmar’s only Ramsar Stie, Moeyungyi Wetland Wildlife Sanctuary (MWWS) covers an area of 40 sq-mile and is located around an artificial lake constructed in 1904, at Bago and Waw Townships in the Bago Region. The lake was created by the construction of a dyke to the north, east and south of the site. A main road is found to the west. The surrounding area is mostly flat, becomes flooded during the rainy season and is dry during summer, although some permanent water bodies exist.
